This is our Ayurvedic version of tomato-free barbecue sauce. Black cardamom’s smoky flavor combined with the tart and sweet dried fruit certainly make up for the lack of traditional barbecue sauce ingredients. Enjoy this delicious, deep-red-colored sauce with grains, vegetables, lasagna, or any dish with which you’d like to replace tomato sauce.

We recommend finishing this sauce with freshly squeezed lime juice.

Delicious and very flavorful sauce !

This sauce is very delicious and yummy. I have used it in place of traditional bbq sauce and ketchup in lentil loaf . It turned out great . My husband and 2 year old love it and eat it straight out of the jar .

Amazingly delicious!

This sauce is incredible. You could serve it to someone who isn't into Ayurveda or healthy eating and they'd be like, "What is this amazing thing you fed me?!" But we know it's super healthy and balanced as well as delicious! Just really yummy.

Delicious!!

This sauce is absolutely delicious!! I have used this sauce on so many recipes from Divya's Book, as well as my own recipes. So easy to make, and will definitely buy again!

Preperation: Yes, very simple. But I don't think it necessary to strain it. I didn't and the texture was perfect! I started to strain it and it seemed too watery.
Taste: No
Improvements?: I had to be careful not to eat too much of it! It seemed to aggravate my pitta acidic condition.

So very delicious. So easy to eat too much of it! Used it on vegetable dishes and rice.

Preperation: Kind of, I would have liked to have directions for how to make a smaller batch on there. I ended up halving it, but even that made too much.

Improvements?: Just directions on how to make a small batch (maybe 1/4 of the bag) instead of the whole bag.
The perfect complement

Loved how easy this sauce was to whip up. It has a place in my fridge for whenever something needs just a touch of sweetness. I love that there's no added sugar and that I'm getting a healthy dose of beneficial herbs!
